Dagmar Manzel’s biography „MENSCHENsKIND“ was published by the Aufbau-Verlag in spring of 2017. Three years previous to that, the actress and singer launched a musical evening at the Komische Oper, with the same title, with which she is now guest performing at the Jewish Culture Days: Menschenskind – Dagmar Manzel singt Lieder von Friedrich Hollaender“. The program was expanded with titles of the Jewish composers Werner Richard Heymann, Hanns Eisler and Kurt Weill. The songs reflect upon the hardship behind the bright face of Berlin in the golden twenties, in a charming way, but also with a stern view on things and sad melancholy. An evening from a woman, who is not nursing a nostalgic retrospect, but instead presents the songs from then, as songs from today.
